Midler: ‘Hollywood Sexist’

From First Wives’ Club to the Old Boys’ Club: Bette Midler Says Hollywood is Sexist
Straight-talking icon of stage, song and screen courageously says what many of us already know first hand but are afraid to verbalize publicly.
I applaud Ms. Midler as I have throughout her stellar career for speaking loud and clear on this.

Bette Midler has accused Hollywood of sexism, insisting there are no movie roles for middle-aged women like her.

Midler has made just three movies in nine years, and blames misogynistic studio chiefs for pushing older actress out of the industry.

The entertainer tells NYPost.com’s PopWrap blog, “The roles just aren’t coming down the way they used to. But that’s true for women in general, they’re just not. I’m so old I can remember when women ruled the screen, and it’s kind of terrible now.

“I’m just happy they haven’t been able to upload me as a human being yet and I can still work live. That seems to be my saving grace.”

Her statement leads me to ask this question:
How do we as women put our dreams first in Hollywood with institutionalized sexism firmly in place? Let me know what you think.
