Excellent article!
I am a so-called Hollywood type -- at least I have worked in the biz for the past 15 years with top talent. Therefore, I would like to make a shout out for all those that did NOT sign the petition, and a closer look at those that did.

The list of 137 people that signed the petition were:
* Almost exclusively filmmakers.
* Overwhelmingly FRENCH, not American. (About 80% were French and less than 10% US and a little over 10% other, mostly European - mostly British.)
* 17 women - or roughly 12% were, shamefully, women: including Monica Belluci and Tilda Swinton.
* The most notable names, about a dozen or so, were, sadly, some of the top "auteur" Directors of our time. Including, shamefully: Martin Scorsese, Alexander Payne, and Woody Allen. It might be debatable how "hollywood" they are both in location and genre.
* There was a significant lacking in Hollywood names that worked w/ Polanski. (ie: Adrian Brody didn't sign it.) There were no signatures by those in Hollywood that were "closed" to the incident. (Neither Jack or Anjelica signed it.)
* There was not a single signature from anyone in Hollywood w/ any "greenlight" authority. (real money/power).
* There weren't any names of young female "stars"

In final analysis, I am not sure the list represents anything more than a bunch of friends and a handful of self-congratulatory and somewhat delusional peers of Mr. Polanski. But, in spite of media hype - it isn't an overwhelming call for action from "hollywood."

I hope Mr. Polanski is able to take responsibility for his actions - it's kinda pathetic watching him squirm. And I did see the Documentary!
